Resolution No. 2

To Expand the Name of the City from Vedic City to
Maharishi Vedic City

November 13, 2001

WHEREAS, the complete name “Maharishi Vedic” rather than only “Vedic” signifies that the knowledge of Total Natural Law—the Constitution of the Universe—Rk Veda for which the city is named and that is being adopted to create an ideal quality of life in the city is authentic knowledge from the ancient Vedic tradition of India brought to light in modern times by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, a representative of this tradition.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL that the name of the city shall be Maharishi Vedic City.

FURTHER RESOLVED, that this expansion of the name shall be submitted to the citizens of the City for approval at the earliest possible election date;

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor shall be authorized to execute on behalf of the city any appropriate agreements to protect the name “Maharishi,” a registered trademark and service mark, from unauthorized use, and the city council shall include in the ordinances of the city a limitation on the use of the name except through license from its registered owner.

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the name Maharishi Vedic City in any context in which it is used shall signify the City effective with the date of this resolution.
