Questions and Answers: Maharishi Vedic City Mayor Dr. Bob Wynne addresses members of the Fairfield Super Radiance Community.
Q. Why was Raj Nader Raam's arrival so quiet, and what is his role in Vedic City and the Movement?
A. His Majesty's Raja Raam's role is one of silence and pure knowledge. His ministers carry out the activities and public role of the Global Country of World Peace. His Majesty's presence at his new Capital in Maharishi Vedic City was a profound blessing for the United States. Maharishi carefully planned every aspect of this visit, including that Raja Raam was able to come and go quietly. As H.E. Dr. Bevan Morris commented about the significance of Raja Raam's visit, this gift of Maharishi's blessings meant that "cold water has been sprinkled on the flames of war."
Everyone has now had the opportunity to see on the Maharishi Channel the two beautiful meetings His Majesty had while he was on his inaugural visit to his Capital and (particularly in the second meeting) his tender expressions of appreciation for everything that was done to acquire The Mansion and lovingly prepare it for his arrival.Q. Where is the King now?
A. He is now in MERU, Holland, using his library to complete research on a Maharishi Vedic Medicine project. Maharishi has also approved acquiring a complete medical library for use by His Majesty at his new Capital as well.
Q. Will Maharishi Vedic City be his permanent residence? How is this Capital different or special compared to the other Capitals? What is the benefit of having the Capital here without Raja Nader Raam actually living here full-time?
A. You may recall that when Maharishi first asked that we raise the money to acquire The Mansion, he said,
We will start working there in all directions inside the country and outside the country. We will start something very grand and publicize throughout the world for a very prestigious setup of the Global Country of World Peace on a functioning level. It will be good to publicize all of our activity from that Vedic City, Maharishi Vedic City, the Constitution of the Universe. Everything is so grand. Only a place is needed....
His Majesty's inaugural visit to his Capital was a highly auspicious inauguration of the functioning of the Global Country of World Peace. The two buildings that were acquired reflect the way the Global Country of World Peace functions. The Capital (formerly The Mansion) reflects the role of silence and knowledge that is His Majesty's role. The dynamic role of the Global Country of World Peace is reflected in the Central Bank Building (formerly One Global Center). Here, in the center of the building, Maharishi has established Constitution Hall, where each functional area of the Global Country of World Peace (health, education, economy, administration, defense, architecture, and agriculture) was inaugurated and broadcast to the world during the week of His Majesty's first visit. Offices and exhibitions are being set up for each of these areas in the Central Bank Building.
Just after His Majesty's visit, Maharishi asked H.E. Dr. Prakash Shrivastava, Governor of the Central Bank of the Global Country of World Peace, a policymaking authority, to inaugurate the Central Bank. H.E. Prakashji, along with members of the Finance Board of the Central Bank, including H.E. Dr. Bevan Morris, H.E. Dr. John Hagelin, H.E. Dr. Girish Varma, and myself, spent a week of intense focus developing a beautiful policy statement for the Central Bank, which is now beginning to function from the Central Bank Building to create policies to improve the global economy and alleviate poverty throughout the world.
Q. Why does the Global Country of World Peace own the Capital?
A. It was Maharishi's very strong desire that the Capital and the Central Bank Building and surrounding property be owned directly by the Global Country of World Peace so that the functioning of the Global Country of World Peace would be permanently established in these buildings and the use of the buildings could never change. Thanks to your generosity, these buildings were acquired on October 15, Vijaya Dashmi Day (Victory Day) by Maharishi University of Management. At the same auspicious muhurta, a new non-profit organization was established in Iowa named the Global Country of World Peace, and the buildings were contributed by the University to the Global Country of World Peace also on Victory Day.
Q. What is the latest news on the U.S. Vedic Pandit project in Maharishi Vedic City?
A. One of the great results of your achievement in providing the Capital of the Global Country of World Peace in Maharishi Vedic City is that Maharishi is now speaking of 8000 pandits in Maharishi Vedic City as the highest priority. He said recently that the reigning authority is in Maharishi Vedic City.
A new design has been created for the pandit project specifically for our colder climate that is comfortable, convenient, and economical. Under the new design, the pandit buildings will be three stories high with a half basement--four stories total. Each building will hold 264 pandits and six acharyas (teachers). The buildings will each have a two dining rooms, two flying rooms, and two Mandaps for Vedic performances. Each bedroom with private bath will house four pandits. There are also built-in desks for the pandits on the enclosed verandas. Thirty buildings will accommodate 8000 pandits. (see attached photo) Maharishi was so pleased with this design that he has asked H.E. Dr. Eike Hartmann to make a tape about it and all the principles of Maharishi Sthapatya-Veda design that are included. The design is the product of a very focused effort by a group of local architects and builders including John Lipman, Henry Clark, Kurt Kleinschnitz, David Todt, Doug Greenfield, Chris Johnson, Tim Fitz-Randolph, and others working with myself. Maharishi is very pleased with this plan, which can be built for about $60 million plus land and infrastructure. Since the bedrooms are all the same, the buildings can be built using modular construction.
This same group has been in touch with dozens of major builders around the country and with lenders and guarantors. The focus is to match the builders who can build most economically with the lenders offering the lowest interest rates. As many as 8 different builders can each build for 1000 pandits to make the project go more quickly. Maharishi has emphasized time and time again that we have no idea how urgent this project is.
Support for the pandits will come from a combination of donations and revenues from Maharishi World Peace Vedic Organic Agriculture project (organic produce grown year round in greenhouses). There is an immediate need to purchase the land for the project with donations or with a combination of donations and investments. Over 600 acres of land need be purchased immediately, totalling $1.8 million. A portion of the land will be used for pandits, the agriculture project, and the Vedic temple, and the remainder will be sold for development, including a retirement community catering to Indo-Americans. This type of structure may make it possible either to make a donation or to make an investment that has the ability to be paid back with a return in the future. If you are interested in this option, please speak with Kingsley and Leslie Brooks.
Regarding the visas, a request was approved in the past for 2000 pandits that specified every aspect of the pandits' activities. This is subject to approval of each individual who is given a visa. Our lawyers are now working to expand the approval to 8000.
